RTE galardona a Arteche

Mungia (Bizkaia), january 10th, 2023.- RTE, France’s electricity operator, has recognised Arteche with its Best Supplier Award in the “Competitiveness and Industrial Excellence” category for its innovative Protection of mixed overhead-underground lines system. RTE, which has been working with Arteche as a supplier since 2016, has successfully implemented this solution in various projects.

“With this system, Arteche provides a reliable, innovative solution which is very easy to install and, besides, requires minimal maintenance”, underlined Tomás Solis, Sales Director at Arteche, when he received the award. “Its main differentiating factor lies in the passivity of remote elements (installed on overhead pylons): they don’t need power supply, which is a major progress in terms of installation and maintenance”, he said.

A unique and innovative solution

The solution recognised by RTE is based on Arteche’s flexible optical current transformers, combined with the Merging Units of the Basque Company, which RTE calls “SDCP” (systèmes de détection de défaults par capteurs passifs, French acronym for passive sensors fault detection systems).

This non-conventional system contributes to protecting high-voltage lines which combine overhead and underground sections, easily adapting to various types of network. It is a highly reliable and fully passive solution, based on a line differential protection function (87L).

Arteche receives this award as the company celebrates its 75th anniversary, and in a context which makes its sector essential to face challenges such as energy transition and decarbonization process.

With this type of solutions, Arteche aims at further providing its customers, suppliers and the society as a whole with added value through innovative, reliable, efficient and sustainable solutions.
